OBIO/AKPOR COUNCIL BOSS ATTENDS WIDOWS OUTREACH IN RUMUOMASI •••As Morgan Amadi Empowers Widows With Cash and Food Items

The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. (Dr.) Gift Worlu, on Saturday, attended the Widows Outreach Program organised by Morgan Amadi through the Cyprain Silverline Beatrice Amadi Foundation, which provided food items and cash gifts to widows in Rumuomasi.
The outreach, which drew political leaders, clergy, traditional rulers, and community members, aimed to provide hope and support to widows within the Rumuomasi community.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Obio/Akpor, Hon. Dr Gift Worlu, commended Morgan Amadi for his generosity and consistent commitment to humanitarian service, describing him as a man who truly understands the meaning of humanity. He said that within the short period he has known Morgan Amadi, he has proven to be a kind and compassionate individual.
Dr Gift Worlu appreciated the clergy for his sermon on “true religion,” noting that the people of Ikwerre also practice true religion. He reflected on the message, rendered in Ikwerre dialect, emphasising that “if you kill your brother, who will you live with?” — a reminder of the importance of love and unity among the people.
The Council Chairman further explained that life is about reciprocity — “if you do for me, I will do for you” — and expressed gratitude to the late parents of Morgan Amadi for raising him well. He prayed that God would continue to bless Morgan and open more doors for him to keep doing his good works.
He stressed the importance of celebrating people while they are still alive, saying that true recognition should not come only after death. Quoting the legendary author Chinua Achebe, he said: “A man who calls his kinsmen to a feast does not do so to save them from starving. They all have food in their own homes. When we gather together in the moonlit village ground it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so.”
Dr Gift Worlu said the quote captures the spirit of unity and communal love that the outreach represents. To support the foundation’s cause, he announced a donation of ₦1 million, pledging to continue supporting initiatives that promote harmony and development in Obio/Akpor.
In his opening remarks, Morgan Amadi, Founder of the Cyprain Silverline Beatrice Amadi Foundation, explained that the widows’ outreach began two years ago with members of his immediate family, in line with the saying that “charity begins at home.” He said he later decided to extend the program to the entire Rumuomasi community.
Amadi noted that the widows were not gathered because they lacked food, but as an act of fellowship and compassion. He emphasised that even among them were women from well-to-do homes, yet it is important to show love to one another as recorded in Proverbs 28:22. He promised to sustain the program by God’s grace, despite the challenges.
He called on the people of Rumuomasi to rededicate themselves to God and work together in unity, saying he belongs to no faction but stands with the people.
Also speaking, the former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. (Dr.) Barr. George Ariolu, commended Morgan Amadi for his steadfast commitment to charity, recalling their long-standing relationship since their students’ union days. He described Morgan as a living testimony of what God can do in a person’s life, urging him to continue the good work not for applause but for divine reward.
Dr Ariolu, who supported the program with ₦500,000, reminded all that “charity is better than paying tithe,” encouraging others to emulate Amadi’s example of selflessness and service.
One of the beneficiaries, Deaconess Lovely Adiele, thanked Engr. Amadi for putting smiles on the faces of widows and praying for God’s continued blessings upon him.
Dignitaries present included the PDP Obio/Akpor Party Chairman, Hon. Paddy Wali; Leader of PDP Ward 8, Barr. Theophilus Owhor; Hon. Richard Ehie; Hon. Atuzie; and the Traditional Ruler of Rumuomasi, among others.
