Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu, Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, has been officially declared the winner of the Local Government Area (LGA) Chairman of the Year Poll, following his outstanding performance in the highly contested online voting exercise.
The poll, which attracted wide participation from members of the public across Rivers State and beyond, saw Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu emerge winner after recording the highest number of votes among all contestants. His victory reflects the growing confidence of the people in his leadership style, developmental strides, and people-oriented governance in Obio/Akpor LGA.
Since assuming office, Hon. Dr. Worlu has distinguished himself through impactful policies, infrastructural development, youth and women empowerment initiatives, improved grassroots administration, and inclusive leadership. His administration has continued to prioritize peace, unity, and sustainable development, earning him admiration from residents, stakeholders, and political observers.
The LGA Chairman of the Year award further cements Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu’s reputation as one of the most performing local government chairmen in Rivers State, and a rising figure in grassroots leadership.
