Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government council, Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu, has advised the leadership of National union of Obio-Akpor Student (Nuobas) not to allow their students activism to affect their studies in school.Worlu gave this advise on Tuesday, when he received the newly elected executives of National union of Obio-Akpor Students (Nuobas) led by Comr. Enruchi Bright Ordu at the council headquarters, Rumuodomaya.
Dr.worlu admonished the students to take their studies very seriously and not allow their students activism to affect their studies noting that they are in a preparatory stage and as such pay attention to every training and skill the school has to offer adding that it wil be beneficial to them after graduation.
He explained that as a former students leader he took his studies very seriously, he noted that students are critical stakeholders that must be taking seriously by any government.
The council boss informed the students that his administration will commence the payment of Bursaries to Obio-Akpor Students in tertiary institution soon. He stated that the payment of Bursaries to Obio-Akpor Students is captured in the 2026 budget which will be presented to the 10th Obio Akpor legislative Council on Thursday.
The Chairman further charged the students to take advantage of the ongoing INEC Continuous voters registration by mobilising their students to register, noting that it is the only way they can elect credible leaders.
According to him, you must see positive things and highlight them and when you also see negative things be courageous and bold enough to point them out that’s the only way we can build a better society.
In his remarks the president of the union Comrade Enruchi Bright Ordu informed the council boss that they were at the council headquarters to familiarise with him.
He further described Worlu as a man of the youths, He appreciated the Chairman for his tremendous and
remarkable achievements within this few months in office.while thanking him for deeming it fit to encourage Students of Obio/Akpor with the payment of Bursary.
