Ozuoba, Obio/Akpor LGA — The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu, has formally handed over a newly renovated residential apartment to the Ozuoba Divisional Police, marking a significant step toward strengthening security infrastructure in the area.In his acceptance speech, the DPO of Ozuoba Division, Mr. Adebamigbe A. Taiwo, expressed deep appreciation to the local government chairman for the swift intervention. He narrated how the project began after Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu paid him an unscheduled visit to his office.
According to the DPO, he had only pointed out the dilapidated building to the chairman and explained the operational challenges officers faced due to the lack of suitable residential accommodation. Despite initial doubts, he was pleasantly surprised when engineers arrived shortly after to inspect the building, and renovation work commenced almost immediately—even while he was away attending to a family bereavement.
“This project has been abandoned for more than 20 years,” the DPO said. “What we see today is a total renovation that will greatly enhance our effectiveness and efficiency in the discharge of our duties. I am sincerely grateful for this uncommon gesture.”
Delivering his remarks, Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu emphasized that governance and politics are rooted in service, integrity, and responsiveness to the needs of the people.
“All politicians are not the same,” he stated. “Politics is not about deceit; it is a noble craft for noble people. When I saw the condition of this building and understood the nature of the DPO’s work, I knew we had to act.Dr Worlu noted.
The handover and cutting of the ribbon was performed by Elder Lawrence Amadioha, JP, Leader of Obio/Akpor Constituency II. In his speech, Elder Amadioha commended the chairman for what he described as a landmark achievement and possibly the first completed project of the current administration.
The ceremony attracted community leaders, council officials, and security personnel, all of whom hailed the project as a timely intervention that will strengthen policing and public safety in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
