I WILL NEVER DISAPPOINT OBIO/AKPOR PEOPLE, SAYS GIFT WORLU

Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu, has assured residents that his administration will continue to deliver people-oriented projects, declaring that he will never disappoint the people who entrusted him with the mandate to serve.

Worlu gave the assurance on Friday during the flag-off of the construction of an ultra-modern market in Ozuoba, saying the project fulfilled a long-standing desire to provide a modern and conducive trading environment for the community.

The council chairman said the idea of building a befitting market for the people of Ozuoba had been on his mind for a long time, noting that the project was aimed at improving commerce, creating jobs and enhancing the socio-economic wellbeing of residents.

He urged the people to continue praying for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Political Leader of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, whom he described as a leader who has brought pride and honour to Rivers State through purposeful leadership and impactful projects.

Gift Worlu also canvassed support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Rivers State governorship election, expressing confidence that the people of Obio/Akpor remain steadfast in their support.

In a goodwill message, the Leader of Obio/Akpor Constituency II, Elder Lawrence Amadioha, commended the chairman for his developmental strides across the council, describing the market project as another milestone in the administration’s efforts to improve the lives of the people.

He said the people of Ozuoba would remain grateful to Hon. Dr. Worlu for initiating the construction of a modern market that would boost commercial activities and provide a more conducive environment for traders.

Giving an overview of the project, Architect Peter Mbata, representing who represented the consulting firm,said the design was aimed at developing an ideal community market that would improve on the existing facility while providing essential amenities for traders and visitors.

According to him, the project, designed around the concept of usability and community, will comprise 68 open stalls, 25 lock-up shops, a sickbay, modern toilet facilities with improved odour management systems, administrative offices, a dedicated waste collection point,borehole and overhead water storage facility.

He added that the market would be constructed using anti-rust coated steel pipes instead of timber for the structural framework, alongside an efficient drainage system and waterproof concrete finishes to ensure durability.

Mbata disclosed that the project is expected to be completed within four months.

The highlight of the ceremony was the groundbreaking performed by Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu, who laid the first block to officially commence construction of the ultra-modern market.

Notable amongst dignitaries at the event were the Vice Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Dr. Joyce Nyeche; the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Mr. Sunny Adibe; HRH Emma Utchay; the Secretary of Council, Dr. Kelvin Akani; Nyewe-Ali Ozuoba Eze Amadi wali as well as other traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials and community stakeholders.
