The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu has received two distinguished honours from the Academy of Management Nigeria in recognition of his contributions to academia, public administration, entrepreneurship, and community development.
The honours: Fellow of the Academy of Management Nigeria, and the Award of Excellence in Public Service, were conferred on him during the 2026 Conference of the Academy, held at the National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja.
The recognition reflects Dr. Worlu’s years of service across different spheres of society, combining his background as an academic and scholar with his experience in administration, entrepreneurship and grassroots development.
Speaking on the recognition, Dr. Worlu described the awards as an encouragement to remain committed to service and to continue applying knowledge, innovation and sound management principles to public administration.
Dr. Worlu since he assumed office has pursued an administration anchored on institutional reforms, innovation and people-centred development. His administration has advanced the digitisation of revenue collection,infrastructural development, improved public safety and traffic management, social interventions, business and enterprise development as well as. collaboration among government, the private sector and communities.
His elevation to the Fellowship of the Academy and recognition for Excellence in Public Service therefore represent another milestone in a career spanning scholarship, enterprise, administration, and public service.
